Massage and Movement

Our unique Massage and Movement therapy

Massage and Movement is a wonderfully relaxing individal therapy designed by our founder Sophie, and delivered at your home. It is particularly beneficial to those who have difficulty moving around and spend most of their time in a chair or in bed. It is a pleasurable and relaxing non-intrusive treatment involving a combination of gentle massage and guided movement that is beneficial for both physical and emotional well-being. The receiver is encouraged to relax whilst the therapist gently works on the muscles and joints, moving the body through a gentle range of movement.

What are the benefits of Massage and Movement?

  • Many people find that Massage and Movement helps to keep their muscles and joints supple and can also help to relieve the pain and discomfort associated with a more sedentary lifestyle.
  • Quality 1:1 time with a caring therapist can open channels of conversation helping people to feel cared for and listened to.
  • Regular Massage and Movement sessions can help to reduce feelings of isolation and loneliness and can be a positive addition to a weekly routine, one that is often very much looked forward to by our current clients.
  • The importance of physical contact is something that is often overlooked in the care of older people or those who are ill. Sometimes the only kind of physical contact a person receives is in the form of invasive medical attention or assistance with personal hygiene.
  • Nurturing touch can help to substantially enhance a person’s quality of life. It can give comfort, pleasure, a renewed sense of well-being and the assurance that we are not alone.

Who is Massage and Movement suitable for and what is involved?

Massage and Movement therapy is suitable for most people and is carefully tailored to suit the individual. Sessions can be carried out in a chair or on the bed and normally involve massage and movement work to the feet, legs, arms and hands but can also include back, neck and shoulders if requested. The area to be worked on is usually partially uncovered to allow oil or cream to be used on the skin.

If preferred, we can work without oil, through clothing. Modesty and dignity are always respected.
